STOMP ADMIN
Kathmandu Valley is more than just a city to explore, it's also a rim to walk. Circling the valley are over 170 kilometres of ridge trails, offering a different perspective entirely: forested hills, open grassland, and views that stretch from the city below to the Himalayan giants beyond.
This short hiking experience takes one section of that rim — the southern ridge. A cable car lifts us straight to Chandragiri at 2,540m, skipping the climb and delivering sweeping Himalayan views within minutes. From there, we follow the ridgeline on foot, moving through forest and open ground toward Champa Devi, the valley's fourth-highest peak, where a hilltop picnic lunch awaits.
Whether walked at an easy pace or pushed as a trail run, the route adjusts to how you want to move. It's active, offbeat, and refreshingly close to the city — a half-day escape into greener, quieter hills that most visitors never notice from the valley floor.
Around four hours of hiking, 400m of elevation gain, and a side of Kathmandu Valley best seen from above.
